From the moment he drove a race kart at the age of 6, Liam has had a burning desire to race single-seater cars at the highest level, Formula One.
A Red Bull Junior driver since he signed a multi-year driver contract on his 17th birthday, Liam has progressed with backing from the global energy drink company through EFO, Formula 3, Formula 2 and Super Formula.
After testing for the AlphaTauri F1 team in December 2021 Liam progressed to Official F1 Reserve Driver for both Red Bull and Scuderia AlphaTauri.
In August 2023 he was called upon to replace an injured Daniel Ricciardo and made his F1 debut at Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix.
Liam drove in five GPs for Scuderia AlphaTauri and scored his first championship points with 9th in the Singapore GP to become just the sixth NZ driver in history to do so.
In September 2024, Redbull Racing announced Liam as one of their regular drivers. He was promoted to a full-time driver with Visa Cash App RB Formula One.
