In January 2019, a day after Liam made an extraordinary pass at Highlands Motorsport Park to take the lead in his debut TRS race, Dr Helmut Marko (head of the Red Bull driver development programme) rang to offer Liam a Red Bull Junior contract. But before the end of the series a month later, there were other F1 junior programme offers as well.
On February 12th, the day of his 17th birthday, Liam chose and signed the Red Bull offer of a multi-year agreement. The Red Bull Junior programme develops and provides drivers to their Formula 1 team and associated AlphaTauri team.
